My CVS Run and.......A Giveaway!!!
Yesterday was my weekly CVS run. I am pretty much on a spending lock down so I can pull money out of my butt for uncle Sam. I have limited myself to about 5.00 per week OOP at CVS and this includes necessities. One of these days I will post a picture of my little stockpiles. I love stockpiling because these are the times when you need them. It is my belief that you should always have at least one months supply on hand of basic necessities IE, laundry detergent, toothpaste, TP, Soap, deodorant etc. My little trip reflected my budget! I choose to go to a store that was close to my Cardiologist's office to see their layout, nice store. I finally saw the trial size Crest white strips that every one is always talking about so next time that coupon comes out I know where I am going! Here is the run down of my little trip.
Purchased:
1 gallon milk 2.99
(2) Sally Hansen nail polish B1G1 50% off 7.03
Fusion Gamer razor 7.99
Coupons used:
3.00/2 Sally Hansen Q(RIB book from CVS)
4.00 fusion razor
2.00 cosmetic Q (from scanner)
4.00 ECB
Total OOP 5.74 Received 4.00 ECB net 1.74 spent! Not bad but If I would have had my Q's with me I had a 1.00 Sally Hansen Q that I could have used to sweeten the deal! I wanted to find the Renuzit triscents but they did not have them it would have been a MM.
Ok do key, now I'm sure you want to know about the giveaway huh? Well since I am such a CVS addict and I get a lot of great deals, I think I will put together a nice little package of my finds just for you! What will it include? It will include any or all of the following: Cosmetic's, razors, Healthy and beauty items ie lotion, facial cleansers etc. Perhaps some items to pamper yourself with! All I can guarantee(because I have yet to get these items together) is that it will be a nice little package that I myself would love to receive! Because of the nature of the items I can only ship to a US address . The contest will run until Tuesday 3/3 at 8AM MT. I will use a random number generator to pick a winning comment. You do not need to have a blog to win but PLEASE make sure I have a way to contact you, If your blogger profile is not public and you do not leave your email in your comment, I will have to pick another winner.
Ok here's what you need to do to enter. Leave me a comment below and let me know when you have been broker then a joker what did you do as not to go stir crazy at home? Valid comments only, all off topic comments will be deleted. Would you like extra entries? you can do any/all of the following for an extra entry each(please leave a separate comment for each)

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 269 Newer› Newest»Watched old movies and ate popcorn that we bought for .99 cents!
charisscharity[at]yahoo[dot]com
I cleaned my house really well, and did loads of laundry.
Thanks
Hi..found you with a google blog search about CVS savings!! So, we would go to KFC 10 or 15 minutes before they closed and see what kind of deal they would give us for the chicken they had left! Also, played board games and had read alouds with the kids (haven't delved that far into your blog to see if this applies!)...we read the Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit (etc.), The Secret Garden...lots of fun. Had people over for a potluck. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!
I have lots of books, so I read alot. We also clear out closets and get ready for the spring garage sales!
roseannk_99@excite.com
Hey what is boredom! I stay busy babysitting 3 kids during the day and cooking, cleaning and laundry for my 2 teens and husband! I might get in a tv show if I am lucky!
frogz60@hotmail.com
we played cards alot and split cases of the cheapest beer available. Beast I think... those were sad times.
I've been out on FMLA for about 6 wks. due to a serious health problem. And what I have done is...finally folded & put away all the laundry thats been piling up on top of the dryer. Did alittle early spring cleaning, and took advantaged of the double cents off coupons at K-Mart, even though the money has been tight(est) here since I'm out sick.
Sorry to ramble on...Please enter me in your "giveaway".
I follow!
This past summer was the worst! My library kept me sane.( They actually have new releases dvds and the wait is not too long plus I love to read books)
I was so broke when I attended college during summer school, I had no shoes. I went barefoot to class. They did not serve food on the weekends so I existed on popcorn and water. I survived, it can be done.
The library has been a godsend for this family. Ours has first run movies, just-released books, and every magazine that you can think of. My husband and I take two huge duffle bags and load up every two weeks, and it is all FREE, FREE, FREE! Also, my kids get to watch new movies all the time, which they love, since we don't have cable.
We take advantage of Netflix & TiVo and do our movie watching at home. The popcorn doesn't taste quite the same and we don't have a fancy surround sound system so the special effects aren't quite the same, but it does save us a lot of money.
Hubby & I have been putting back money like CRAZY to save for the house we just bought. We've saved up an increible amount so we're continuing to live well below our means just in case.. yanno, for a rainy day. So when he's home (he's currently in Iraq) we woukd watch movies from our collection, make some jello (cheap) & scrounge up whatever we could make.
I'm so broke that i put my pennies in wrappers and am getting ready to make them crazy at the bank.
We basically have dinner, watch tv, and go to bed early. You can't spend while you're asleep. lol

clean clean clean that house thats the only way not to go crazy when you are broke
I get all my script(And boy there is alot )and they have really good service I also bet my chocolate fixes ther yummmm
I clean and search for rebates or contests on the computer all day.
Surf on the net, watch tv, find a local redbox. You can rent a new release for $1. Very cheap!
bbkling(at)gmail(dot)com
We have family nights that consist of playing board games and watching dvd's that we get (for free) from our local library. Thanks so much for this giveaway.
I have friend and family get togethers and grillouts and it's BYOE. (Bring Your Own Everything.) Nobody seems to mind. They're as broke as I am. We just like being together, broke or not. We have a boat for taking out on the river but it sat in the yard all of last year, (and most likely this year, as well), because we couldn't afford the gas for the van to tow the boat or the gas for the boat itself.Maybe I ought to pull the boat into the backyard and we can sit in it and ACT like we're on the water. After a couple of cocktails, we might actually forget we're on dry land. And if anyone fell overboard, at least they woiuldn't drown.
traymona[at]aol.com
Used to eat out several times a week. Now, we do all meals at home and hubby is becoming quite the cook. Eliminated cocktails on the beach which was an every weekend kind of thing. Basically, we stay home, clean the house, take care of the yard and then GO TO SLEEP. No more going out and partying the night away.
had game day and made homemade pizzas and watched videos- used redbox code..wait I guess we are broke alot becuase we just did that
I read, surf the internet, watch movies on cable or if I get real ambitious I clean the house.
When my husband and I first got married we were BROKE. Broke-Broke. We watched staticy TV via bunny ears , ate tuna noodle casserole and walked across the street to walk around the park. Hard times but fun times.
alisha.call@gmail.com
We dig into the recycling and do art projects; then at least our house looks cool even if we're broke.
galeogirl at comcast dot net
Surf the internet and draw :-) Oh, can't forget the MUSIC
KawaiiNeko2008 (at) aol (dot) com
Ok, this goes way back to my college days but we used to sell our plasma so that we could go out. I could sit and do my studying while they had me hooked up and then I was set to go out afterwards. Nowadays, we'll just rent movies and pop popcorn. I prefer the later.
Geocaching! This is a much tighter year for us financially and I discovered geocaching from a Christmas letter we received from one of our friends. There are literally dozens of these little treasure chests hidden around our area and thousands more within short drives. The kids LOVE the activity and it is a great way to kill a few hours without spending anything!
thank you for the great contest

I did laundry then spent time with my better half.
Purrlatina@yahoo.com
Last summer we were at our worst point with a car that broke down. My husband was out of work for a couple months with no pay. We spent our summer home watching tv and bringing the kids outside to play. We only left the house if we got rides to places. We walk down to the grocery store together as a family carrying back groceries since the car was broke.

I clip coupons, search for sales, Walgreen's is another saver shopping place and enter giveaways like yours. Thanks for it.

Take walks and kids to the park. Always free and always feel better afterwards.
tvollowitz at aol dot com
I used to go to the pet store and watch the animals. It always made me smile.
When I'm really broke and trying to find ways, *any* ways, to make some money, I fill out surveys, enter sweepstakes, and click on "click-for-points" emails. Not only do I gain things, but it is also very entertaining sometimes!
cherise420 [at] yahoo [dot] com
I do surveys online, or do mystery shops.
I began reading again. I also started gardening.
When we were first married, I worked part time and my husband went to school. We ate cheaply but my husband never acted like he missed anything. We had a young child so we spent time with him. We did have a small tv to watch. He did homework while I did the bath and get ready for bed with our child. We went to bed early and got up early. We really didn't feel like we were missing a lot.
Fortunately I live near a library. Free movies and books a plenty.
well, i have been visiting the library alot more these days- catching up on some great reads, i also surf the net looking for coupons, and freebies-anything to save some money-as someone who is not working, every little bit helps.
I watch movies form the Red Box for a dollor or I get books on tape for a dollor or two......
We go shopping at the Dollar Tree for snacks for a movie night. For about $5-$10 you can get quite a variety of stuff the kids will love.
Gab with the neighbors.
Play with the cat.
Do the laundry.
Clean out your vehicle.
Read a book.

We check out movies and books from our local public library. Our tax dollars are already paying for it, so it's free entertainment.
When you are broke the best thing you can do is entertain yourself until the money comes flowing in again and you do that by playing board games, or spending time with family passing along stories from work or your day..when you get that money CVS is the best..don't you love their CVS savings card and deals...awesome!
I can be contacted at Angelrose752(at)aol(dot)com

My family and I break out the board games! It's great for every one and it brings us closer together!
orchestratenoise0726[at]yahoo[dot]com
We go camping with friends at the state owned camp ground (its free). Everyone pitches in for food and we play cards till the wee hours.
We have rented a cabin in the winter too. They give us a real deal about $25 a day.
Right now my husband is out of work because he got laid off due to the economic crisis and we had to move into a smaller and cheaper house to rent and i had to apply for welfare for cash aid ,food stamps and medi-cal . right all we do since we dont have a car is watch t.v at home .
played board games we already had and made popcorn which didn't cost very much.
I rent movies and books from the local library. Free entertainment!

We took our old video camera out to a local park and made our own "movie" with the kiddos then watched it on our TV :)

Something fun to do when I'm broke is to have a garage sale. It's fun to make some money, and get rid of extra items at the same time!
I'm following your blog.
Watching TV, reading books or surfing the Internet is how I keep myself entertained when I don't have enough money to go out.
read... played cards...
Read and watch TV, as usual.
We spent a lot of time listening to music and playing Uno with friends in our apartment building. Thank you!
The time I was poorer than old Mother Hubbard with bare cupboards was when I first moved out of home after graduating college and got my first real job. I was a freelance stenographer and the paychecks from lawyers didn't start coming for a few months, so I lived on ramen noodles and water for 3 months! I had moved out of state and didn't know anyone, so I found an ad in the paper for free kittens and went to the farm where they were. I had to chase down 2 wild kittens!! I didn't want just 1 because I thought it would get lonely when I was working, so I got 2. oh, my gosh! They were so wild, they climbed the curtains, raced across my bed when I was sleeping, and jumped off my second-story balcony!! After I finally started getting paid, I didn't eat ramen noodles for 15 years! lol! Thank you for this great contest!

Play football in the park with friends. Hangout at the house and be poor together. Friends will always be there no matter if you got money or if you have none.
We just opt to do things that don't really cost a lot of money. We pack lunches and eat at the park (when it's nice outside) or bake cookies (when it's cold outside).

One word: Library. Thanks for the giveaway.
That was long ago when I was a teenager. Everyone would chip in for gas, and we'd just drive around.
We usually go to the park! We also camp out (in the yard)
Right now we're pretty broke! I live with my husband and two roommates and when we're bored we make up our own mad libs!
We live across the street from a city park. We walk the dog, and go fishing in the lake.
We've got a ton of movies we can watch, and there's always the local library to borrow books, videos, etc.
we walked alot
listened to music...that always lifts my spirits......and watched movies we already have.......
We played games like Charades and Pictionary!
twincere[at]hotmail.com
We have had "game day", where we play games until we can't take it anymore!
Did crafts with the kids during the summer, using old magazines, recycled items... egg cartons, paper towel holders and pipe cleaners (for some reason every time I buy these I get 1000 in a package and always have leftovers.
rmc1ra(at)aol(dot)com
I surf the internet looking for contest. Thus the here and now.
It's amazing how when you don't have any money to spend you can always find projects to complete around the house.
We mostly watched movies or played board games. Thanks for the giveaway!

We were really broke shortly after we got married. We didn't have a phone or a TV and ate an awful lot of rice, beans, and pasta. We took a lot of walks, went to the library and did window shopping. Thanks for the giveaway!
We hang out on the deck and play cards and talk.
ha ha when i am broke as a joke, I get caught up on cutting out my coupons!!
When were broke(like now) we dont go out to eat or the movies, but have found ourselves hanging out with friends playing cards and doing pot lucks. To be honest, I think its more fun.
I stay broke! I usually surf the internet looking for new and exciting hobbies to try and I also read blogs. When I feel I have sat around to much I get out and walk. Thanks for the awesome contest!!:)
I am a public follower!! :)
Currently - I'm a college student! I live on ramen noodles and store brand everything, and try to make money off of my art! It's okay and I don't mind too much, just disheartening sometimes when I can't afford to go out with my friend! :\

This past years has been a living hell trying to stretch a dollar let's say trying to stretch a penny. What we did during the summer break with two tweens and no money. We listened to our local radio station to give a secret location of where their promotional van would be for the day and we would race to it to get free tickets to the movies or free dinners at CiCi pizza. We got lucky several times and was able to have a semi normal summer break.

Playe euchre online and did a whole lot of rereading of some books that I hadn't touched in years.....oh yeah, and read blogs!!
Watching whatever was on "free" tv and eating my own home popped popcorn which is the cheapest snack. Had to eat Ramen noodles for lunch for months once while in school.
libraries and parks are great! Both are free and can provide hours of entertainment, I also like to do "big" cleanings and clean out and reorganize everything.. and find things to garage sale off to make a little extra money
fried dandelions in the dark when the electric company shut off the power
We either stay home and do things around the house or we go to the river a cou[le miles from us and fish. I had a stockpile of catfish in my freezer last summer...although Hurricane Ike took care of it. Have to start all over.
I was broker then a joker when I purchased my first home! The mortgage lender we used estimated our closing costs way too low and when closing day came we ended up owing almost $2 thousand dollars more than what the estimated costs were. The mortgage company had omitted a couple of major fees and we were too inexperienced to catch them beforehand! Needless to say it put us in a pickle of a situation where it literally took us over a year to get that money back into savings so were not totally wiped out! In order to not go stir crazy at home we spent our time scouring flea markets and garage sales to pick up items we desperately need for our new home, and we needed so much at that time. We were able to purchase a new sofa at a garage sale that looked like it had barely been used and we got that for $40! We also purchased tables, lamps, cookware, dressers, all at garage sales and truly never spent more than $5-20 on those items each. We also spent a lot of time doing our own painting of rooms and when we were not at work at our jobs, we focused on becoming proficient at being do-it-yourselfers! Now were have been living in our home for about 8 years and we are still trying to make ends meet by frequenting garage sales and flea markets, but now we are on the hunt for baby and toddler gear of all kinds! We now have 3 young children one of which is 6 months old and money is tight again! Thank you for the opportunity to enter.

Have had periods of this on and off so we usually watch tv and make meals out of what we can find in the cupboards-haveto be creative.
