Mulligan for Montel Williams Health Master Review

Wow guys I have never had to do this but I must take back all the glowing words I had about the Montel Williams Health Master!

I really and truly loved what it did, but sadly the machine did not hold up as it was expected and advertised to. I used my machine pretty sporadically in total maybe 10 times. I pulled it out to use it after it had been stored for approximately 2-3 weeks only to find it dead as a door nail.

The reset button did nothing and the machine wouldn't even power on. I cant/will not apologize for posting this as I tried in vain to get the PR company that I worked with to make it right. I really thought it may be an isolated incident until I searched and found that this is a problem that has occurred to others. The company strings along customers and promises a return label that is never received.

I cant in good conscience recommend a very pricey 200.00 machine that will just stop working and where you will not get a replacement nor a refund! So please look for a more reliable machine to spend your money on.

*******UPDATE 11/26/09*********

Hubby decided to pull it all apart this AM before we just tossed the broken $200.00 paperweight. After doing much re-wiring and Bypassing of switches the machine is turning on. Again this in no way changes my mind. Seriously what average person is going to be able to pull it apart and rewire it???? No one I know. I don't even know how long this rigging will work! Please take all my information and make an informed choice. I do not represent the Living Well Healthmaster. My opinions are my own and are honest, I am simply informing you of my own personal experience.

Oh no! And yes, for that price tag I'd expect it to hold up for a lot longer!

That does suck! Thanks for the info!!!

I'm really glad you posted this update. I've been looking at the Health Master for doing baby food at home...at least now I know I can look at other options and cross this one off the list.

Thanks for the post. For $200 it better last more then 10 times. That is $20 per use. Not good. I hope this gets fixed for you but again thanks for the post. I will be sure to steer clear of this item.

I agree with a price tag like that you'd expect it to hold up a lot longer. I always like to hear the good and bad in a product to make sure I get what I paid for.

Amanda said...

I agree with the others that for $200 the product should work more than 10 times. Honestly, I'd even be annoyed at that price if it stopped working after that many uses, and they did repair or replace it, because then you're without your product for probably at least 2-3 weeks during that process.

Thanks for the update. I would be very upset if this happened to me and I bought this machine.

Shannon said...

Thanks for the info. Do they have any sort of warranty so if this happens to anyone who purchased it, they can take it back?

Lisa P@www.isitmondayalready.com said...

Shannon, the issue is it was a review no was to prove a purchase date. Also those who have purchased keep getting run arounds from the company. Very bad Business!~

Not surprised at all... So glad I did some research about this crummy(Health Master) blender! I am extremely happy and totally satisfied with my purchase of the VITA-MIX 5200. Like I had said on a previous post that I made before, totally worth the extra cash. I have been using my VITA-MIX blender three times per day for the last 60 days throwing everything in it. No probs at all.. Doing all type of recipes it claims it can do with no hiccups whatsoever! I'm so content with the little extra time researching and money well spent on this original emulsifier. The Rolls Royce of blenders.
I love VITA-MIXING!!

I am so glad that I checked this website before I purchased the Healthmaster! I was just about to place an online order, literally. So much for that. Now, I'm going to check out the Vita-Mix 5200...thanks for your review Coast2CoastAM74!

glad I read this review -- I have been researching for a few months now and saw Montels infomercial today. I had also bought the Jack LaLanne juicer a couple of years ago after seeing the infomercial. I will probably buy the VitaMix unless there is something out there that better I have not found it yet. I have been on the journey to put more raw foods in my diet and this is the best way. Thanks for the honest review.

May I have permission to use your blog in my Vita Mix demonstrations? I get this question all of the time at my shows (I am a Vita Mix sales demonstrator) and I don't want people thinking that I am putting down the Health Master just to make a sale - your review and the comments that follow is more trust worthy than anything that I could say. Also, I have a website with my demonstrator recipes and free tips, tricks and health advice at: http://www.VitaMixLady.com

at least for you it worked a few brief minutes. I bought the upgraded professional model. I never even obtained power from this machine. I had respect for both the spokespersons for this machine. I have learned an expensive lesson. In this economy I was sad to do something healthy and wise and feel like such a fool. as i posted on the healthmaster site, "let the buyer beward."

At least you had it work for a few minutes. I purchased the upgraded professional version and the machine never had power.
I have learned an expensive lession for me in these economic times. I tried to do something to improve my health. I use my jack lalane constantly. I have thought about the vita mix. I remember it from yrs ago. It pays to pay for quality. I will ck into that one. As i posted on the healthmaster.com site, "let the buyer beware."

Thank you SOOOOO much for your honesty. Like just about everyone else stated, I've been seriously looking at purchasing the Health Master, actually budgeting to get it the 1st of the year. Now, I'm looking at the VitaMix, thanks to other reviewers. It's sites like this that are so much better than those sponsored by companies. Thanks again for your honesty & integrity.

After viewing the commercial for the Health Master, I almost pulled the trigger -- How can you not trust Montel Williams? But I decided at the last second to check some reviews. Yours was the first I checked. I think that's enough to change my mind.

Thanks for the review update and for saving me $200.

I have never owned the Health Master but I have owned the Vita Mix 5200 for two years now and I absolutely love it. It is expensive but well worth the money. I even bought one for my daughter and her four kids.

Thank very much for your honesty. I read your blog as part of my research as I intended to purchase this machine. You have no doubt saved me money plus a lot of aggravation. I would have been outraged to spend that kind of money only to have the machine quit in such a short timeframe.

I truly appreciate your integrity. I was tempted to purchase this appliance, although at this time, I can ill afford it. I'm glad to Know that the warranty is worthless.
Thank you.

I was almost done with placing my order this morning when the call dropped. Since this was an infomercial impulse, I decided to do some research before going through the process all over again. Thankfully, I found your review, and a few other's that just saved me about $300 (between upgrades, shipping, etc.) Maybe I'll look into the Vitmaster instead...they even sell it at Costco. Happy New Year!

Chocolat said...

Wow!, Thanks for the information. I caught a demo at Costco for a commercial blender that did all the same great things that the Healthmaster claims to do for about 350.00. I told the guy that I was interested in the health master and he told me to do my research on the item first because he didn't think it was all that great but not to take his word on it. So I found this site and wow he was right.

It sounded like the motor died. What happened to the warranty on the motor?

Vickie said...

I used the Healthmaster 1 time and the 2nd time it started then went dead. I am having trouble just getting them to send me a return postage envelope. I have been working on this for over a month. I just sent a complaint letter. If I do not get any response this week I am sending a dispute to my credit card company. What do you expect from something that was made in China!

Elisabeth said...

Thank you so much for the warning about this product. I went with the Vita-Mix 5200 after hearing what you and some others went through with the Health Master product. Sounds like the extra money for the Vita-Mix is well spent.

They've just started advertising the Montel infomercial in the UK. I'm please my research led me here - I will definitely NOT be buying.

I have two Vitamix and looking to get a blendtec in August. My friends are squaking about the 300 price of Vitamix and Blendtec. I have had mine for several years and have takenthem to many foreign countries an just used a transformer for the use. Many people have asked me about this machine for the price. I'll pass. ***For the record, i've seen live demonstrations and this does NOT do more than Vitamix or Blendtec.

Umm..call me confused or whatever, but why the glowing review the first time around..I thought one was supposed to actually *use* a product before one writes a review?

Lisa P@www.isitmondayalready.com said...

Umm Anonymous, clearly you are confused. I did use the product prior to posting a review! Had you read my updated review it states that it quit working after a small amount of time and usage. It also stated the problems I had while trying to resolve it with customer service. Maybe read some other reviews of those that have "used" the product and had it fail on them as well!

Has anyone been able to get their money back? I have tried phone calls and emails, and am still out the money I paid for the Health Master. I'm also offended that Montel Williams is the spokesperson which tells me that Health has nothing to do with this position - he is only interested in the money. I did learn that Health Master is shipped by Fosdick Corp, Wallingford, Connecticut. This Company has been given an "F" rating by the Better Business Bureau.

Unfortunately I bought this product one month ago before reading any reviews. I have been making smoothies in the mornining for about 3 weeks. Today I discovered oil leaking from the bottom of the food container around the shaft seal. Based on the reviews I read shortly after purchasing this boat anchor, I expected this or possibly complete power failure from this product. However, I thought I would get a few months out of it! Stay away from this consumer ripoff!

I'm grateful that I spent a little more on the Blendtec machine. I think the Vitamix or Blendtec are probably worth the money. The Blendtec has the preprogrammed buttons that my daughter can use as well. It also means that I don't have to watch it as closely.

Now if I could only find out about the recipes that are included with the Healthmaster. Are they really that good? I am thinking about buying some - but would love to find it cheaper somewhere else.

Up until 2 days ago I had no problems with mine, but the baring is busted in the pitcher and the seal leaks, I've owned it less then a year, I bought my from an as seen on t.v. store. I will never recommend this blender ever again. For anyone out there thinking of purchasing one please don't. I've been looking into this for the couple of days and no one has had anything good to say about repairs or replacing parts. I will be purchasing a Vitamix asap.

Anonymous said...

same problem here, can't get a hold of anyone....the label never showed up. 6 months it worked what a piece of junk. my wife has MS and really thought that this machine would help her like it did Montel.... he's a crook in my book!!!!

Anonymous said...

I too wish I had taken the time to read reviews. My first Healthmaster broke withing 2-3 months. I was able to get a replacement which also broke after a few times of using it. and haven't heard back from them. It has been 2 months with no emails returned or answering of their phone. I really wish I could get my money back but they refuse to refund $.

i'm watching the infomercial right now, actually dialed the number to purchase, but i quickly came online to see the reviews and i'm happy i did. Guess i will save my 200 plus s&h

I disagree with some of the comments. I bought the Montel Health Master about 9 months ago and it is the best thing that I ever bought. I use it on regular bases. I make Almond and, Coconut milk, soup and of course use it for pulverizing my fruits and vegetables. I alternated the Health Master with the Jack LaLanne juicer and wok beautifully till my Jack LaLanne died about two weeks ago and just purchased the Breville fountain plus juicer. My plan is to continue what I did in the past.

Thanks! I almost spent $200 I didn't have to buy this machine! I will stick with my juicer!

To all of you out there looking to buy one of these machines...DONT'T! I've owned mine for about a year and a half now, and it's broken twice. The first time it poured black grease all under the pitcher every time I used it. They sent me another pitcher, because the customer service rep told me that was the problem (seemed like this had been an ongoing problem). I use this machine maybe 2 or 3 times a week at most. Now, roughly 6 months later, the motor is burned up. I put all of my fruit in there as I usually do, and pushed start. It ran about 5 seconds and died! They will repair it for the lifetime you (the original owner) owns it. Needless to say YOU the consumer have to pay to have it shipped back to them for repairs and YOU the consumer have to pay to be shipped back to you at at $30. Hell, I have a ten dollar blender that's 20 years old that works better than this $200 one. So BUYERS BEWARE!

Anonymous said...

DO NOT BUY! I've owned mine for less than a year. I have the same story as Lisa. Used it about ten to fifteen times. The company will replace the motor for $29.99. They do not want the old base, just $29.99. I still have not received the new base after 3 weeks. I also had the black grease when I first started the machine. So BUYERS BEWARE!
