Disney Channel why o why did you do it?

My son has finally gotten to the point in his toddler years where (thank god for my sanity) he can stay interested in the alternative baby sitter (the TV)
Ok mommy's don't go all psycho on me, we all need a break every now and again! I am alone MOST days with my children as my husband works in transportation and is out of town most weeks more then he is in town. My son is on a waiting list for a great Christian pre-school but until an opening occurs its him and I EVERY day.
I have been a good dedicated mommy for 2.5 years now, but I need quiet time too, even just a few minutes at a time to make a phone call, or to go outside and check the mail.
Anyway as I said he has started to show interest in a few cartoons Sponge Bob Square Pants, Mickey Mouse Club House.
Here is my issue his favorite is Chugginton he loves trains as his daddy drives one, BUT Disney Channel why on goods green earth would you air even a great cartoon/animated show like Chuggington if parents cant by ANY merchandise? I started a search for DVD's because we have out vacation coming up in 2 weeks.
We will be in the car for a minimum of 6 hours each way as we drive back and forth the California. I was hoping to get at least one Chuggington DVD to keep him happy.
Wrong! Even thought they air on AMERICAN Disney Channel it is from the UK and there have not been any DVD's release in the US or in US format. FAIL you know how kids are ruthless in their extortion of parents in getting movies, Posters, toys, ANYTHING with their favorite TV characters.
Sadly I have to try to explain to a toddler that I cant get him anything with Chugginton on it, and when he crys for "shugginton" all I can say is its not on(100 times or more) instead of being able to pull out a DVD and make him smile.

I know exactly how you feel! My son loves The Fresh Beat Band on Nick and they don't sell any FBB merchandise, at least not that I've seen. You would think companies like Disney and Nick would realize if they put they air the shows kids are going to want to have the DVDs, shirts, dolls, etc.
Oh yeah, that really does suck. I hope your your sanity they come out with things here, soon. My sons are now too old for that show but it looks cute.
We are in the same boat. Although I do know they are coming I've already talked to a PR rep from Learning Curve. The are making the toys and will be in stores soon.
Can you maybe copy some of the shows before you leave?
Ok, this same thing happened to me when my son was little with the Wiggles. There was nothing here in the states as far as merchandise went. He wanted a Wiggles bday party...nope! And then he started to grow out of it and all of a sudden....it was Everywhere! Drove me nuts! Still does when I go to a store and see the merchandise and know that they had none of it when my son was little. Just the shows on Disney. ACK!
Yeah it really is a bummer! I dont think I can copy any as I dont have a dvd recorder except on computer and I wouldnt even know how to do that. It just stinks to get kids all excited then drop the ball!
It does stink when you want to buy something and can't. I haven't seen that show yet, if my son does he'll probably love it because it has trains. Is it fairly new and maybe that's why?
My son loves that show! If I was going on a trip the Chuggington DVD would definitely help. It's too bad there's nothing out yet.
