Guilt Free Whole Wheat Pizza for South Beach Diet

I am diggin sharing my recipes guys! No matter if you are on South Beach or not Pizza is something that should not only be enjoyed but one shouldn't feel guilty for eating it!
This is a Pizza recipe that is appropriate for South Beach Phase 2 or 3. The basis of the Pizza is a Whole Wheat crust! There is zero added Sugar and only wholesome better for you ingredients, but tasting it you would never think it was a healthier choice for you. This is what I strive for!
I have yet to feel deprived or that I am dieting! South Beach is a way of life, you learn to eat differently for life. This is not a low carb Diet like Atkins its low crap!
I have shared my recipe for Pita Pizzas and they are awesome especially if short on time, but if you have time and want to make your own pizza from scratch then this is a recipe you will want to try!
You can pick and choose the topings to your own taste just be smart in your choice! I used Turkey Pepperoni, Fresh Mushrooms, No sugar added sauce, and Part Skim Mozzarella cheese.
This recipe covers the dough since like I said you can choose the toppings
Whole Wheat Pizza Dough
1 1/2 C Warm water
1 Tbs Active Dry Yeast
1 Tbs Olive Oil
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Basil
1 tsp Granulated Garlic or Garlic Powder
3 1/2 C Whole Wheat Flour
In a large bowl sprinkle yeast in water and allow to sit about 10 minutes, make sure it is pretty much dissolved before adding the Olive Oil and salt, and spice. Give it a stir to combine all the spices, oil and water.
Add all but 1/2 cup of the flour to bowl and mix until the dough pulls away from the sides and a ball starts to form.
Spread the rest of the flour onto a clean work surface turn the dough onto the floured surface and kneed it until the rest of the flour is Incorporated.
Once the kneeding is done you need to oil a large bowl and place the dough into it, loosely cover with a towel and place into a warn spot for about an hour or until the dough doubles in size.
When the dough is ready to go you want to get your oven up to 500, while the oven is heating up prepare your bake ware by oiling it well ( I used olive oil Pam Spray to make it easier).
This recipe yields enough to make 2 thin crust or one thicker crust pizza. If you choose 2 pizzas just divide the dough in half.
sprinkle a bit of flour on your work areas again and turn the dough onto it, with a well floured rolling pin roll your dough out to size.
I chose to use a cookie sheet to bake my pizza as I wanted a larger thicker crust. I laid out the dough and actually had is hanging over the pan so I chose to add a bit of cheese around it and fold it over to give us a stuffed crust!
Pop the dough in the oven for about 6 minutes just to get it going. once you have pre-baked it you will lower the over to 425 and cook for an additional 13-15 minutes after you top it your way!
Here are some photos for you of the process from dough to finished pizza.

Wow! That looks incredible! I love that you put cheese in the crust. My hubby and I are going to love this! Thanks for the recipe!
SOUNDS DELICIOUS!!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Going to make it this week!=]
Is it possible to make the dough a day ahead of time? I want to make stromboli, but I would prefer to make the dough a day beforehand...can I do this? How do I store it?
Katherine I would think so. Just make sure you let it rise in a warm place before storing it in the fridge. Yeast will not rise in cold. I would store it in the same bowl covered with plastic wrap. Let me know how it turns out!
