Yes sir Fathers Day is approaching for sure and it's time to start thinking about a gift for that special man in your life!

Sure you could get him another tie, cigars, or some sort of gadget that may seem like a great idea at the moment OR you can get him something that is super cool and way functional!

Timex, what comes to mind when you hear that name? Watches right? Yeah you know takes a lickin and keep on tickin. Timex was founded in 1854 and employs over 5,000 people so do you think they know what they are doing? Yeah I would say so.

Timex has come out with the Expedition E-Altimeter Collection. This collection features four equally cool styles:

Black stainless steel case that has a black dial with yellow accents and a soft rubber yellow strap (this is the model we reviewed)

Black stainless steel case that has a black dial with yellow accents and a soft rubber black strap

Classic outdoor stainless steel case and a natural dial with orange accents and water resistant brown leather strap, and stainless steel case.

Black dial with orange accents and stainless steel bracelet.

Now this is not your ordinary watch oh goodness no this is a highly accurate time keeping device that has a lot of extra features for the outdoor enthusiast! check out the features

Timex Expeditions E-Tide Temp compass, this counts down the actual ocean tides.

Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit

compass readings with an adjustable declination scale

Altimeter function that operates with a range of -400 to 25,000 feet (-120 to 7,600 meters)

Indiglo nigh light so you can see your watch in low light situations.

All features are in true analog readings no digital stuff here. This watch was created around the 1960s infantry watches and you know they had to be accurate.

The MSRP is from 199.95 (strap model) to 224.95 (bracelet model)
The are available exclusively on Amazon at this time but will available in sports specialty stores and online at Timex in may of 2010.

Ok now that I have got the specs and the necessary info out of the way onto our personal review. This information is being provided from my husband who was the lucky recipient of the Timex Expedition E-Altimeter watch from Timex for the purpose of facilitating this review!

"Substantial. Yes this watch is not a rinky dinky cheapo watch. No way this is a good weighted watch that feels great on the arm"

" I work for the Railroad and I always want to know the elevation that my train is climbing at,this watch is very accurate with its Altimeter feature"

" The second hand is very easily recognized from the other hands on this watch, this is very important to me as I use the second hand to determine my speedometers accuracy"

" The Indiglo is perfect for night time trips, I no longer need to turn a flash light on to see my watch or the cabin light for that matter"

Bottom line this an excellent watch for the man that needs more then a basic time piece.
