Have a failed?
I have a confession to make. While I have been awesome in not picking up a cigarette since quitting in April of 09, I have recently started enjoying smoking Swisher Sweets little filtered cigars. I feel like such a failure! I had smoked a few here and there along with regular cigars now and again I think around the time hubby and I went to Laughlin last October.
I do mean here and there a pack I bought while out there literally sat in my china cabinet until maybe June of this year! But around forth of July I started smoking a few a day. Now most of the time I do not inhale, however when you smoked for 17 years its hard not to inhale when you are not concentrating on not inhaling, its like second nature! Now the packs have been lasting like a week or more but I just came to the realization umm hello dummy what are you doing! So I am taking steps early on to nip this in the bud. I realized there are times I truly miss it. I enjoyed smoking, I enjoyed the taste, the feel in my lungs, all of it but the smell and the cost! So with that being said I have ordered an E cigarette with NON nicotine cartridges.
I have gone almost 17 months without cigarette and I see myself teetering on the verge and I do not want that monkey on my back again. I do not want to fail, I know that many start smoking even years after they quit but I do not want that to be me! So this is what I am doing, I hope that the taste and feel of a smoke without the bad stuff will help enough. My brother who was also a smoke used an e cigarette with nicotine cartridges to quit so lets hope the non nicotine version gets me away again! Don't hate me cause I messed up!
*eta* I smoked a few cigarettes just the other night. I feel like a loser, dang why did I do that. Big slip but it will not happen again!

You are not a failure...it happens! Especially when you LIKE the act of smoking. I bought an Electronic cigarette...they are cool!
You are not a failure dude. You DID quit and you can do it again!!!! I have faith in you!
Just get back on the horse, so to speak. You can do it.
Let us know how the ecigs works for you. I have been thinking of getting them for Hubby and me.
Thanks guys! My E-cig came in today so I am hoping the mere "act" of inhaling something will help me get back on the wagon!
It's a slip, but it's not a failure. You worked so hard to get here. You WON'T let yourself fall back!!!!
You are NOT a failure and we each have our vices (so to speak) and I've heard good things about that E-cigarette. Just take it one day at a time.
My whole family smokes. I tried it a couple times but it wasn't for me, then watching my grandma spend 5 months battling lung cancer I knew it was definitely not for me or how I wanted to go out. So ((hugs)) I know how difficult it is to quit as I've seen many family members try and quit without much success.
It matters not what you did yesterday, but what you will do today. Every day of smoking cessation is just that, a day. Yes, they add together, but each day making the decision not to smoke is a victory to be celebrated. And when you slip up, simply determine to not smoke the rest of the day or the following day. You are not a failure.
***I quit smoking March 9, 1997!
failure is a big word...you hvaent failed, you faltered. Just remember, you are doing this for your kids.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement ya'll I so appreciate it!
You are not a failure. Failures do not recognize what there mistakes are and attempt to fix them.
I want to quit very badly, so please let me know how those cartridge ones work. I have tried everything else before. It all never worked for me.
It was a mistake. One you're working on fixing. Not a failure. Quitting smoking is HARD. My husband started again after having quit for 5 years. He's now been smoking the last 10 years and is trying to quit again. It's a constant battle.
You are NOT a failure! Slip ups happen daily!

You are not the only one who have been into that kind of experience. I have quit smoking five times and eventually find myself doing the stuff again. Just like you I thought of maybe if I can't really get rid of the habit of puffing I should at least try to lessen the bad things that comes along with smoking. I bought a blu cigs and so far it is helping getting rid of the nicotine addiction. Blu cigs have a zero nicotine cartridge and that's my next target. And when I am totally nicotine free, my next battle would be breaking the puffing habit. To our quitting success . . .
All of us sometimes fall short of our promises to our self. Don't feel too bad about it. It's perfectly normal. I'm glad that you have found your way to e-cigarette just like I did. My blu cigs helped me quit smoking technically. This is the good thing e-cigarette does. But it is still better if we can totally get rid of the vice.
