So I was going through my dashboard and it contains feeds to all blogs that I follow with GFC and I got sad.
Why? Well guys giveaways and reviews are fun, but I'm tired of that be the only thing that I see! I have tried really hard over the past 6 months to kinda get a grip on my blog. I was doing a ton of reviews and giveaways, now not so much I mean like maybe two per month. I am soo cool with that, I mean I am super picky now on what I will and will not review, or giveaway.
In reality if it's not something I REALLY want or cannot just go buy myself I pass. I don't want to be just another blog that blends in with the rest. Now don't get me wrong there are some really small things I will review. Those are the cases of really great PR people. If I have worked with them before and they are great then I will usually accept. Great relationships certainly help us all.
I know readers appreciate giveaway, but there is a lot of work that go's into them! The same with reviews. I want to show case things that are really useful, I want to find a few products that I really believe in and be an ambassador but I don't seem to get those offers. Why? I have no clue but such is life, I have never been invited to a sponsored blog/brand trip. I don't know I think I have a great blog, but I can be biased hahaha.
But again that's OK, I don't want to be a machine KWIM? I want to speak my mind, let you all know who I am. I want to know about you too! Don't get me wrong I like entering giveaways (certain one's) but I want to know about you too not just product XYZ.
I want to be able to allow you into my world, and in return be welcomed into yours. I am not shy on what I post. I have opinions we all do and I want to read them.

I totally agree with you. I dont mind giveaways but I want to know more about the person writing the posts. I also try pretty hard not to do too many reviews/giveaways & get caught up in just that.

I only blog about me. LOL! I have only done a couple of giveaways and I have not monetized my blog. So it is all about me, me, me! LOL!
Perfectly put. I breeze through my blogroll until I come across a post about something other than a giveaway! Like your right now :-)
Good for you! Time changed, kids schedules changed, things required of me changed and I just couldn't keep up either.
And, you are right. I quit BLOG-blogging; though, it was super fun! And, I love giving stuff away.
My page stats and rank went down, but I'm enjoying it all the more now. (Though, I do miss the great stuff I was allowed to review!)
There must be something "in the water" because I started weeding through blogs I follow and starting deleting ones that post more giveaways and reviews over the things I prefer--stories! I've bee participating in the SITS Back2Blogging challenge and it's forced me to look ar my own content. It's hard to not get caught up in the freebies but that's NOT why I got into this. So, I, too, am refocusing. That's not to say I won't throw in a giveaway here or there, just not one a week!
I love reading your posts Lisa where you give your opinions. You always articulate your perspective well.
I am wanting to add more of that to my blog, but for me it's a tough balance. I tried doing that for a while in Spring, and then had trouble focusing on that and the reviews/giveaways took over again.
I know with Christmas coming up, it's going to be tough again, with sponsors asking for space, and truly I do want to monetize my blog. But it is DEFINITELY something I'm planning on implementing in the New Year.
awe thank you Tammy! It is a balance game for sure. Like I said there are some great PR people I have worked with and I am more then happy to help them out, but reviews and giveaways can't take over my blog. I want people to know about me and I want to know about them back!
